Airline Security

Department for Transport

The Department for Transport has put in place security regulations for all passengers starting their journey at all UK airports. For current regulations and further information, please visit the Department For Transport website at www.dft.gov.uk.

Passengers who have concerns regarding their travel arrangements or security in place at airports, should contact the departure airport or Palmair.

Each passenger is permitted to carry only ONE item of cabin baggage through the airport security search point.

The dimensions of this item must not exceed 22" x 18" x 10" - including wheels, handles, side pockets etc, the weight should be less than 5 kilos and it must be capable of being stored underneath the seat or in the overhead locker. Other bags, such as handbags, may be carried within the single item of cabin baggage. All items carried by passengers will be x-ray screened.

  • Suspect items such as aerosols, umbrellas (other than telescopic),
sporting bats, knives, tools, darts, scissors, tweezers, knitting needles, syringes*, or anything which could possibly be construed as a weapon, may be confiscated, or you will be required to transfer these to your checked baggage.
  • Fragile items may also have to be carried in the hold (at passengers' own risk - please check that you are covered by insurance for hand baggage and other items).
  • Large quantities of wine, beer and spirits WILL NOT be allowed in the cabin
or the aircraft hold for safety reasons.
  • Duty Free or Duty Paid Goods - you will be allowed to take some items
purchased at the departure airport into the cabin. However there may be
restrictions on the carriage of certain types of fluids as hand baggage and
before travelling you should check for current security regulations at
Bournemouth, Exeter or Jersey Airport and with your local representative at your oversees departure airport.
  • Vital medication - (check with current Department for Transport security
regulations), cash and items of value should be carried on your person or in
 hand luggage.
  • Porters/baggage trolleys are often in short supply.
  • Should you suffer damage to your baggage, report this to an airport official
BEFORE you leave the baggage hall at the airport. You will be asked to
complete a Property Irregularity Report (PIR) form before leaving the airport
and you will be given a copy to submit your claim to your insurance company
Failure to comply with the above will result in any claim against your
insurance company, the airline or Palmair, being invalid.

The necessity for security measures can of course delay check-in procedures and it is therefore in your own interests to comply with the above. You are advised to check in no later than 1½ hrs prior to departure and no earlier than 2½ hours prior to departure. You should also be forewarned that extra security measures are in place at all overseas airports.

*Important - if you suffer from a medical condition which requires you to carry a syringe, it is essential to contact Palmair Client Services Tel: 01202 200700 to be advised of the special procedures involved.

Please check your travel documents thoroughly. Palmair clients do not require hotel vouchers as documentation is sent to the hotel in advance of your arrival. Aircraft departure times are correct at the time of printing, but are subject to variation and flight timings shown on your ticket may vary from those published in our brochure. You should take with you your holiday invoice and a copy of your insurance cover.

Delays

Sometimes flights are delayed through circumstances beyond our control. Between 2-4 hours we will provide light refreshments. After 4 hours a main meal if possible. In the event of overnight delays every effort will be made to provide accommodation. Delayed departure insurance is included with Palmair insurance. As a precautionary measure, a stock of vital medical supplies should be carried in hand luggage. Passengers suffering from allergies and having special dietary requirements e.g. diabetics, should carry in their hand luggage a supply of foods that may be required in the event of a delay. Parents travelling with young children are advised to carry sweets/drinks (check with current Department for Transport security regulations) and toys in their hand luggage.

Your transfer

Approximate coach transfer times are shown as a guidance only and can vary depending on the number of drop-off points, traffic and road conditions etc. Your local representative will display the pick-up time for your return journey.

Your Accommodation

Checking in and out

If you have travelled on an early flight, in some instances your room may not be ready for occupation until at least 1200 hrs midday (maybe 1500hrs at peak times). On the day of departure, unless otherwise notified by your Palmair representative, you may be required to vacate your room by 1200hrs, even if your flight is not until later in the day. Most hotels will try to provide facilities for changing and storing baggage.

Building work

Building work takes place from time to time in holiday resorts which can cause inconvenience - whenever possible we advise clients of such works in advance

Single rooms & under occupancy supplements

Single travellers or those clients who wish to occupy accommodation with fewer people than the number shown on the price panel, may feel that the cost per person of their holiday appears higher than it should be. The reason for this supplement is that our contract with the owner is based on a price per room or per apartment, while our holidays are sold per person, including flights and other elements. Therefore, the ‘per person’ price for a lone traveller includes the entire room cost. This applies to single rooms in hotels and also to self catering units where, e.g. three people may want to occupy accommodation usually sold for four and priced accordingly.

We do not make additional or excessive profits from these sales - the prices charged merely reflect the real cost to us. In some hotels, there are single rooms available which normally carry a supplement, but usually less than when a single person occupies a double room. It should be noted that these single rooms are often smaller and sometimes less well appointed. We do not know which room you will be allocated as your hotel will usually decide this shortly before your arrival.

IT IS ESSENTIAL that inclusive holiday clients who have made car hire arrangements do not require their hotel transfer must notify Palmair on
