A beautiful horseshoe bay with surrounding cliffs and sheltering pine trees which leads to other secluded bays. A pleasant village for shopping with a bus service to Mahon and Ciudadela. A small coastal train operates around the resort. Visitors can enjoy the local equestrian show which takes place from June to September.More Information
This is one of the most picturesque bays on the island, almost encircled by cliffs, with pine trees growing right on the beach. It is a major resort, with numerous hotels, apartments, bars, restaurants and shops. Water and other sports are catered for. Nearby, and within walking distance, are the beaches of Cala Mitjana and Mitjaneta. Between the resort and the nearby town of Ferrerias, there is a large equestrian centre, Son Martorellet, where there are daily short exhibitions and the spectacular evening shows of the local breed of horses showing their training. The stables can also be visited. The town of Ferrerias has a market on Thursday mornings and a farmers’ market on Saturday mornings. There is a Nature Centre, dedicated to the natural environment and a cheese factory, set in the grounds of a lovely old house, which also produces wine and olive all; both these are open to the public. Ferrerias has a lively town centre and plenty of good restaurants. Fiestas of Ferrerias is between 23rd - 25th August.
