Soak up the atmosphere of this town (built as a British garrison) with a visit to the history museum, walk or take the bus into Mahon or simply enjoy the tranquility of the magnificent harbour views and sample the restaurants of Calas Fonts. Ideal resort for the 50+ age group but fairly hilly.

Set on the Port of Mahon, less than 2 km from the capital, which is served by a regular bus service, Es Castell is more of a town than a resort, which gives it a more authentic feeling. Because of this bus service, which links with the Mahon bus station, Es Castell is a good choice for clients who wish to explore the island without having to hire a car. The town has a completely re-landscaped main square, which is a pleasant place to sit and watch the world go by. There are many bars and small restaurants in the town, which makes many clients opt for bed and breakfast here, in order to try them out. Restaurants in town: Bar Espana, Camacho (tapas), Sa Llesca. The hotels used all have marvellous sea views of the port and the passing craft; and there are 2 coves, Cala Corp and Calas Fons, which are well worth a visit. Calas Fons is the larger and more developed of the 2 bays, and has a good choice of restaurants, bars and a few boutiques. Recommended restaurants: Dinkums, Ca’n Delio, Trebol, Miramar (tapas) – but all the restaurants are good there. Just above Calas Fons is the Club Nautico, a restaurant which not only serves good food but has the most marvellous views and is well worth a visit. Within reasonably close distance of the town are several historical monuments: Fort Marlborough, San Felipe Castle. Market in Es Castell are on Mondays and Wednesdays and the local fiestas are on the 24th - 26th July.
