Fuerteventura

The second largest island of the Canary archipelago, Fuerteventura is just 62 miles from the coast of Morocco, around 65 miles long and 20 miles wide. The north east of the island is first in line when the winds blow in from the Sahara, carrying the sand which forms more than 150 spectacular beaches - some are wild and lonely, while others bustle with tourist activity and there are also child-friendly beaches, surfing beaches and remote spots favoured by nudists, nature-lovers and bird-watchers. Further south the terrain is more volcanic with some light sand man-made beaches. The rich coastal areas are a mecca for watersports lovers who can take advantage of the strong Atlantic winds and the superb choice of watersports, windsurfing, kite surfing, surfing and jet ski facilities. Divers can explore shipwrecks and magnificent underwater lava beds with their teeming marine life, and fishing enthusiasts can try their luck at sea fishing. Other leisure activities available are two golf courses, jeep safari, horse riding, off roading by jeep or motor bike, sailing, catamaran sailing trips and yacht chartering - Fuerteventura has to be one of the best Canary Islands holiday destinations for all of these leisure pursuits!
