Near to Kontokali, this very busy resort has a good variety of shops, taverna bars and restaurants. The resort has two high streets and a village community and the man-made sand/shingle beach has shallow water for safe bathing. Although visible, access to the Marina is via Kontokali. A bus service (limited) operates to Corfu Town.More Information
Gouvia is a bustling resort comprising of two main high streets leading to the well maintained man made beach with convenient beach area facilities. The resort offers tourist shopping, mini-markets,snack bars, various style restaurants and bars. The centre of Gouvia is situated close to larger supermarkets on the main road with an excellent open air fresh fruit and vegetable store. Gouvia is connected by the high street to the nearby village of Kontokali and excellent bakery, all within a short walking distance of Gouvia Marina, which is impressive and worth a visit. Sunday services can be observed at the Greek Orthodox church of the resort and a convenient 24 hour taxi rank service is located near the church. At the junction of Gouvia is a cross country route for easy and pleasant country driving to the valley of Ropa and the west coast sandy beaches of the island. It is worth mentioning the huge remaining arches of the Venetian naval shipyard which stands proudly to this day in the beach area.
