Carvoeiro, Algarve
Approx 15km from Portimao and situated in one of several cliff-backed coves, Carvoeiro remains a charming fishing village centred around the main square and the main sandy beach with its rocky shoreline. This area is generally hilly. There are three smaller coved beaches in the area, all with very steep access. There is a choice of bars some of which offer live entertainment during high season and a choice of restaurants with varied cuisine. Take a visit to Algar Seco, which is well known for its caves which have been created by wind and water rock formations, these have great historical value. There is also a riding school and water slide park nearby.
