Although the liveliest resort in the Algarve and suited to the 'young at heart' the old town still retains its character with its cobbled streets and whitewashed houses. The lovely beach is reached through a tunnel from the shopping street. The nearby resorts of Montechoro and Areias de Sao Joao offer bars, restaurants and discos and several picturesque beaches and coves to choose from. There are some hilly areas.More Information
The largest resort in the Algarve and very popular with the “Brits”. The “Strip” in the Tourist resort is full of bars, restuarants & souvenir shops and very lively. The Oura Beach is at the South of the Strip. The Old Town although having recently been modernised still retains it’s character with lots of cobbled streets and old tunnel which leads to the main beach. There is always plenty happening here and many types of restaurants to suit all tastes. The “Tourist Train” links the Tourist Resort with the Old Town or one can hop on and off the “Giro City Bus”. This is a hilly resort in general. Again there are many excursions to choose from including the Jeep Safari/ Historical Algarve/ Lisbon/Seville etc.
